Second Annual Pushkar International Balloon Festival celebrated in Pushkar, Rajasthan

The second annual Pushkar international balloon festival was held from 7 to 9 November 2011 in Pushkar near Ajmer, Rajasthan. Participants from ten countries showcased their ballooning skills during the event.

Colourful hot air balloons with beautiful motifs presented a spectacular view to tourists and participants. Fifteen balloons were included in the festival. Pilots and technical officials of ten countries, including the UK, France, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Netherlands and Czech Republic participated. The balloon flight of two hours’ duration each took twice daily at 5.30 am and 4 pm respectively.

 Over five lakh people visited Pushkar, some 15 km from Ajmer to attend the festival. Nearly 20000 cattle are also being to the fair for livestock trading.

Pushkar Balloon Festival is held in the backdrop of world famous Pushkar Fair. The balloons fly over festival grounds, camel camps, sand dunes, campfires, mountains and lakes around the scenic destination during mesmerizing sunrise and sunsets of Pushkar Hills.

Pushkar Fair

The Pushkar Fair, or Pushkar ka Mela, is the annual five-day camel and livestock fair, held in the town of Pushkar in Rajasthan. It is one of the world's largest camel fairs, and apart from buying and selling of livestock it has become an important tourist attraction. Competitions such as the matka phod, longest moustache, and bridal competition are the main draws for this fair which attracts thousands of tourists.
