73-year-old Tamae Watanabe bettered her own record of being the
world’s oldest women to climb the Mount Everest the world's highest
mountain peak. The Japanese woman scaled Everest's 8850-meter-high
(29035-foot-high) peak from the northern side of the mountain in Tibet
on 19 May 2012 with four other team members.
Watanabe was 63 when she had created the record of being the world’s
oldest woman to have climbed Everest. She had retained the title until
she topped herself a decade later.
