The government has constituted the National Implementation Committee (NIC) for commemoration ceremonies of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya’s 150th birth anniversary under the Chairmanship of Dr. Karan Singh, MP. The other members of the committee are Kumari Selja, Minister of HUPA and Culture, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law & Justice and Minority Affairs, Prof. Lal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University, Shri P.L. Jaiswal, Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya Mission, Justice (Retd.) Giridhar Malaviya, Shri Satish Chandra Mishra, MP, Smt. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Chairperson, UP State Congress Committee, Secretary, Culture, Secretary, HRD. Addl. Secretary, Culture will be the convenor of the committee.
The constitution of the NIC has been approved by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh who is also the Chairman of the National Committee to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya.
Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya (Born on 25th December 1861-12th November, 1946) was one of the greatest men of his time. Highly revered by Mahatma Gandhi, he guided the Freedom Movement and the destiny of the nation in difficult times. He was the only person who presided over the national Congress four times. He not only worked for the moral resurgence but also built up the scientific and technological foundation of India as early as 1916. His ideals and thoughts are relevant even today.
The 150th Birth Anniversary year of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya will start on 25th December 2011 and will continue till 25th December 2012 with a yearlong programmes of lectures/seminars and other commemorative events on the works of Mahamana Malaviyaji in different parts of the country.
