Mulia award for Kedlaya

The Mulia Shatamanotsava Samiti presented the Muliya Thimmappayya Award to H. Chandrashekar Kedlaya at a function at Mangalore on February 04.
Mr. Kedlaya had sung the composition of Sediyapu Krishna Bhat, a scholar who authored Punya Lahari, describing the story of Shabari (of Ramayana).
The vocal support to the composition was given by Mr. Kedlaya, said Mulia Raghavayya, retired scientist from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and son of Mulia Thimmappayya.
Mulia Thimmappayya was a self-made man with no formal education, who, through self study, became a foremost Kannada scholar and researcher, said Mr. Raghavayya.
Udyavara Madhav Acharya, retired professor, who has directed dance and Yakshagana performances, spoke of the erudition of Mulia Thimmappayya, who was a Kannada scholar and professor at St. Aloysius College from 1917 to 1948. He mentioned the “Navaneeth Ramayana”, a three-part composition of which the writer was able to complete only the first part.
Two books authored by Mulia Saraswati, wife of Mulia Raghavayya, were released by Aa. Na. Poornima, sub-editor at “Hosadigantha” newspaper. The books are titled “Chitraanna”, a collection of light and humorous articles, and “Aidaane Kaanike”, a book on short stories.
